If you guys want this settled. Get a car, and a dyno. Run it almost to E, fill with a gallon or two of regular. Dyno it, then drive it around until it's about to be empty, fill with Premium, re dyno, (same day) and see if there is a gain.

2) Getting back to the argument as to whether or not premium fuel will provide better performance in an engine that is specified to run on regular:

2013 Mustang GT (5.0L Ti-VCT V-8 engine)
Recommended fuel: unleaded regular
HP: regular fuel: 402 @ 6,500, premium fuel: 420 @ 6,500

Assuming that you're correct (which I think you are), thank you for helpful information!

That wouldn't work, you'd have to reset the ecu and let it adjust. Maybe a tank of regular, reset the ecu, and then a tank of premium.

Unplug the negative battery terminal. And reset the ecu.

I am on my 3rd tank of 89 octane, if the price doesn't keep skyrocketing here in the northwest, I am going to run 92 octane for 3 tanks. The last 2 tanks got me 35 and 34.9, respectively, hopefully the current tank will be consistent.
I also have a station near me that sells non ethanol, and I am going to see how much that costs, if it costs less than the 92, I may try the 87 they have for 3 tanks to compare.

So did I. Be prepared for people to argue you didn't or it isn't possible, or they will want to see evidence or test that prove it. To which I say go put some premium in for yourself and figure it out for yourself.

I also got improvements using premium, and continue to use it because of aforementioned improvements. I guess we are all just talking story.

Thank god we have a reasonable opinion. ;)

I'm on about tank #9 and this damn car just keeps getting better and better. I'm going to run a couple tanks of premium through it next and see what it does. I'll report back, not that anyone will believe me. :)

I'm putting in premium today and seeing for myself.

I suggest all the whiners do the same, otherwise all you are doing is whining for no real reason
