yes, the cai heat shield is to the right of the maf sensor, look at my picture from my last post, for how far over the maf sensor is to where the engine cover would be.

Cool, thanks. I'm really debating about dropping the $300 on the intake.

I think it is worth it, I bought the $200 one and am building my own heat shield, but the full steeda one is much less time consuming.

I orginally was going to go all aluminum and still might but this was much easier. Taking off the engine cover made the install easier.

It sounds really good. deep growl.

Did you try to see if the stock lid would fit?

The steeda air filter is about a half inch to long for it to close all the way, i could either trim the rubber seal on the air filter, it is pretty big, cutting it in half would make it have enough space.

I could have put it on but it wouldnt have closed all the way on that side, maybe if i cut some off the top box to make a hole for it to fit through. It is close to fitting but not quite.

Considering that that sell it as an open design as is the fswerks and k&n I am not too worried about problems, but I do plan on trying to make some sort of lid and heat shield. Probably something like the fswerks heat shield closer to the engine and another aluminum or fiberglass/cf piece as the actual lid that seals it closed.

I am not done with it, I just did what i could with the time I had available last weekend. So this will be an ongoing project.

I like both the Steeda and K&N intakes for different reasons. I like the K&N because it replaces the stock air plumbing completely with exception of the MAF housing.

Does anybody know if it would be possible to replace the stock hose with a silicone hose for use with the Steeda intake?
