I can't imagine the variable valve timing is that bad and it really looks like the stock engine is starving for air about 5000rpm or so. So, if that's true, putting a better breathing intake should permit continued HP gains beyond the stock peak.

Again, I'd love to see before and after dyno curves with just intake mods...

i will probably have those in a few weeks, but my SRI is going to be modded with a cold air pipe and aluminum airbox.

New steeda intake installed and it sounds great...of course I have the FSwerks exhaust so a little hard to hear the intake but according to my butt dyno it does run better and have more snap to it. Now that I got these mod's done need to focus back on the Shelby. LOL

If there's anyone in Pittsburgh, Columbus, or Cleveland areas that has the intake I'd love to hear it. Videos never do much good imo because playback volume becomes problematic. I think the results of this would be good for me, and wouldn't hurt mileage too bad because I'll probably shift lower. The sound is the major deterrent for me. I'm a classic muscle kind of guy, and the above video seemed to have too much noise for me. Sounds like a motorcycle. The only loud exhausts should be flowmasters on v8s.

Anyway, I'd love to hear more comments on the noise, perhaps from someone who favors the stock. To be honest even the stock is a bit louder under high rpms than I thought it would be.

Also, Vmax:
Jesus, do you have enough shoes?!

Too bad we don't have sound meters to test all of this. It would make for easy comparisons between exhausts and intakes.

The stock fofo setup is very engine happy sound-wise as it had zero exhaust note (2 mufflers and a resonator). True story, I have the race exhasut which you know if you read any of this thread and that drones from about 2500-3200 rpms. We were going to The Avengers Monday night and my friend said that my car sounded quieter with the intake installed at cruising speeds. I personally thought the same thing but this was completely unprovoked on his part. I am madly in love with my intake if you couldn't tell. Under WOT, I could almost . . . well you get the idea. It's awesome!!! Sorry, in retrospect, that doesn't help you much as to your request, but I couldn't be happier with the performance and sound gains between these two mods.
