dyn085, I appreciate the support my dear gentleman. I know my measly 160HP Focus doesn't really need them for performance but i think they will look good. And if i get thrown in as a Ricer so be it. Half the people on this forum mod there focus for whatever floats their boat, whether for racing or show its all on here. Or typical Jeremy Clarkson described bimmer owner will not change my mind. Nor will anyone else.
Oh dang, that looks really good. lol

Snap! Out come the haters...

FWIW, I spend plenty of time on BMW forums. Just here because I'm shopping a Focus for my wife. But pretty hilarious that someone with an entry-level Focus wants to talk $**t.

That's cool, though - I'm still going to buy an SE because I think it's a good car for what it is. I'm just not going to rice it out.

I appreciate Bimmer-Bob's opinion as he's matter of fact about things. He's not too worried about hurting your feelings and that comes off harsh...but is he necessarily wrong? At the end of the conversation just respect the other's opinion and go from there.

Personally I've always been a fan a hood vents if done right and on the right car. Hood vents should NOT be the first thing done to a stock car, and usually they're not done to even a stock hood! Just be patient....some aftermarket hoods will come out supporting the ST which will fit our car. They'll probably look a million times better than what you wanna do to the stock hood.

why does everyone get butt hurt on this forum when someone says they dont like an idea? holy shit

if someone has something to say thats negative and it hurts your feelings, well maybe its time to learn to buck up and take it with a grain of salt

everyone has an opinion just because someone doesnt like an idea doesnt mean its dumb or it was directed to make you feel inferior... gesh

personally i like the vents...on a performance built vehicle, would i put them on my focus? no, would i put them on my ST... no does that mean you cant have them on yours? no

Thank you! I'm truly not meaning to come off as an @$$hole, but sheesh, can't someone disagree without being termed a "hater" and totally written off? Do these threads exist just so every single person can come in here and say, "sick mod?"

Finally, I don't think I insulted anyone personally, so don't take it so personally...

He's adding something functional. It's not like he's adding a huge wing to help with down-force for all that "speeding" he's doing. Or adding ST badges on his non-ST Focus... He's trying to cool down his engine with a functional practice. If that is rice you all are crazy. Let the guy mod his car, and in the end, let it look better than yours :P

+1 for doing the hood vents, just don't do the stickies. :)

I don't dislike the idea of hood vents but I think those will look ridiculous on a 2012 Focus. ST maybe.

actually you're not sure it's truly functional unless you get it in a wind tunnel or do some "string on the highway" test.

Just because there may be vents there doesn't mean hot air is automatically being pulled out.

That said...I will say our engine bays are unusually hotter than I'm used to....so having some fresh air come in and some extractor vents built in "correctly" in the hood would be beneficial. But that requires some testing.

Bimmer I'm not taking anything personally. You have some valid points. I too think that stick on shit on cars looks tacky along with the big wings. I thought it was awsome you understood my comment about typical bimmer owner. I myself like the one series you own. But as it is a fully loaded titanium model and not a base model and as I plan on building it for autocrossing I'm just looking to the future. It's deffinetly not the first mod I plan to do to my car, as it looks like I'll have to order it from the UK. That is unless a better looking hood becomes available. I appreciate everyone's comments whether positive or not. In the end I'll know that I will like whatever I do to my car. If I get it done I will be sure to post many picks and will look forward to more comments then.
