It's not the vents in and of themselves that are ricer-y, it's the placing of arbitrary, non-functional vents, especially on a non-performance car. It's like those giant wing spoilers - okay on an F1 car, not so much on a Civic.

@NightAngel

All I am saying is do what you can afford if it makes you happy. I can't imagine how the vents would look good on the RS and not look good on our Foci. I would rather support someone who is going the distance on a mod (non-sticky vents) than be a guy who bashes everyone who doesn't fall within my reasoning of why a car should or should not be modded. Considering that the word on the street regarding the reason of the engine cover being discontinued is because of heat, I would imagine that letting some out might not be a bad thing.
And because, like you, I actually OWN a Focus, I can attest to the heat. I just opened my hood 3 hours after I drove it last, and it was still considerably warm. Do your thing. #justsayin

I have a professional auto body repair and painter friend who's input I plan on getting here shortly as he will be the one helping me do this if I can find some affordable vents.

If you're worried about water getting on the coilpacks, etc....you could always cover them up by ordering the engine cover?? Any water falling through would get on the cover and run off the sides of it.

And water getting onto grounded wires only has the potential to make the ground that much better! bonus!

As for Sonic's green theme, I'm really digging that also. Why? Because it is unique and is done well. Is it my thing? No, not really. But who would I be to act like I'm better than him just because I have the internets to hide behind?
NightAngel, do what you do. If you (or anyone else, for that matter) go that route, I hope you post pics. I would truly like to see it.
+1 I just hope these people dont chase the guys like sonic away.

Know what ya mean... a scoop is meant to be functional in some way.... to me the non-functional scoops are pointless.

I think the RS vents would be a nice touch and functionally may evacuate hot underhood air.

I also think Bimmer-Bob and his entry level BMW should hang around on a BMW forum unless he is embarrassed because he doesn't have a real BMW.
