i never got the fiberglass trim because a. its in uk and b its expensive but i did make the cutouts in my hood for wrc style hood vents and put a wire mesh behind it and ran it like that for 6 mopnths or so but it never looked right without that trim so i welded it back up. i never had any problems caused by the water or snow getting in my engine compartment and i run an open filter. only diffrence i noticed in how the car ran was it ran alot cooler when i had the vents. i think it looked badass and kinda wish i had kept it like that but once i came to the conclusion i wasnt willing to buy the trim from the uk and wasnt willing to spend hours of fiberglass work to make my own that it just wasnt gonna happen

If you drove your car for an hour and opened the hood, is it really OK to spray water anywhere, especially with the engine running? |

And who are you to decide that it's okay to disrespect Autozone stick-on vents but not RS-replica vents? IMO, it's the same thing, except one requires more work and is irreversible, lol. Look, top-trim level or not, this motor don't need no stinkin' hood vents. IMO, taking a lower-spec car and aping the performance-spec version is just lame. It's starting to approach badly-modded Civic territory. All it would need, really, is a Spec-R badge... Anyway, that's just my opinion of course. Obviously some folks disagree. But isn't that the point of these threads? To bounce ideas off of other members? I certainly don't support the idea of the internet becoming an echo chamber where people come just to have all of their bad ideas reinforced. If the OP wants to go through with this, hey, it's his car - but if I can talk just one person off the cliff of bad modding, then it was all worth it. :) |

And yes, it is ok to spray water nearly anywhere on your engine after it's been running an hour, with the exception of your intake and fuse block. We did, after all, just determine that the RS500 has hood vents. |

Now obviously this is just a mock up with Photoshop but you get the idea. Maybe it will support my cause or see it scoffed at by more critics.
![]() dyn085, I appreciate the support my dear gentleman. I know my measly 160HP Focus doesn't really need them for performance but i think they will look good. And if i get thrown in as a Ricer so be it. Half the people on this forum mod there focus for whatever floats their boat, whether for racing or show its all on here. Or typical Jeremy Clarkson described bimmer owner will not change my mind. Nor will anyone else. |

So you are saying every Cosworth Ford, the 2013 Mustang, Viper, the 69-70 GT500 are all the RICER look? I think NOT....
