Yup, crazy indeed.
Guess we'll have to wait to see if the 2013 Focus ST HID headlights share the same part number...

The problem is the current assemblies were not designed with projectors in mind so we would all either need to find a 3rd party assembly that mimics the Electric/ST assembly or just Ebay these things.

More likely though is that the 2013 Focii will be able to have HIDs as an option, most likely on the Titanium.

4k is a lot, so I'm hoping they added that 1 to the prices by mistake otherwise itll be a long wait...

Thanks for the links again. By the way Blimmer I don't think that these would have anything tied to steering unless they are self leveling or directional. That's why your Beemer is that way. Still the price on these are ridiculous, guess I'll wait and see what the part numbers are for the ST. Hope its not the same.

With the Focus ST (with Ricardo seats, Eco-boost engine, and HID headlamps) being only $5k more than the Titanium, the headlamps can't cost all that much....maybe $500 each as the engine and seats are the most expensive parts.

2013 Focus models do not have this available as an option on any model besides the ST and Electric.

No I'm sure they are quite serious about the price of the part as a replacement piece, at least while the car is new, its likely to discourage people from trying to modify their cars to look like the more expensive models, but also partially due to supply constraints and just seeing what the market will bear. Certainly it can't cost that much or they would have to charge 8k just for the options package to include the rest of the stuff if the lamps alone were 4k.

Just a couple points from earlier in the thread:

Headlight levelers of any kind are not REQUIRED on any US-spec cars. The MKS (and likely the Taurus) have HID's and DO NOT have levelers.

Levelers are required on Euro-spec cars, but I'm not certain if they need to be automatic or not.

I figured someone like that Alibaba sight would have these aftermarket, but generally the lens quality and cutoffs are not as good as OEM HID's.

That ridiculous price Ford wants for the set makes upgrading a Non-ST Focus not very practical.

You want to be a little bit careful with LED's on these cars.

On the 2002, the high-mount stop light LED's are fine - but using LED taillight bulbs makes the cruise control stop working (which is why you need the load resistors that you mentioned.)

http://www.corvettehid.com/HID%20Inf...0Bi-Xenon.html

Also - you are confusing auto-leveling with the high-beam indicator. The leveling parts that you mention are probably for European versions of the bulb assembly. The high-low is done by a shield which blocks the top of the bulb and is pulled up by a solenoid when high beams are selected.
