Ford SPI 2.0L Lawsuit

Well, I sold the car and I am moving on. In the future I will be sure to research the car thoroughly prior to making a purchase. In addition, for those who stumble upon this thread, may they be aware that through their frustration a lawsuit against Ford may come to mind, but "moving on" is really the easiest/quickest option. As far as all the responses and advice you all have given, Thank-You!

it came in a lot of base model hatches and sedans till they ran out of them. easiest thing to do before buying is to open the hood. if it looks like this under there

its an spi and should be avoided, or a least purchased with the mindset that it will fail on you eventually

if it looks like this however

its a zetec. which is a sturdy little engine

You did get 8 years out of the car, so things are bound to go wrong, nothing is made perfect - just my .02

I thought only wagons and sedans got the SPI and all hatches(except the few PZEVS) had the zetec.

My gfs wagon has a zetec. Idk the year but I believe its a 2003. my moms wagon was an 06 (pretty sure) and had a duratec.

SPI's never made it to the hatches, and cjheck has a zetec in is wagon. Prolly in a few years all the SPI's will be dead anyway and people can quit whining about it

spi was never put in a car after 2004 and neither was a zetec. the duratec replaced both. The spi does come in some base model wagons. Mostly got put in low trim level sedans.

seriously, what dealer ford or used car, would tell any customer that there is possible engine failure? Lol, have you ever been to a used car lot....if it can be hid, it will be!
