what SHOULD be done by future buyers.

click on this link: www.google.com

look at results 3 and 5 at the very least.

my apologies OP, I didn't realize you had purchased it NEW and owned it for 8 years. You've had the car for awhile and it is out of warranty. Tough luck. The same happened to me as well so... welcome to the club!

What a couple of you are saying is I should have "googled" this back in 04' before purchasing this car to begin with. Yes, I agree, but I didn't. However, I don't believe the company should still be selling these cars on the lot when they know the car is defective in the first place.

Well they havent made them since 04 so dont worry lol. Every car manufacturer has something to hide ford just like to make it public unlike the competition. My neighbor works for nissan he said the would do tsb stuff under the customers nose if they came for an oil change keeping it hush hush. So it wont go public while ford bluntly calls for a recall. Its all bull in the end. Most people that join here either swapped or sold there spi. Looks like joining 8years too late for the insight

It will eventually happen.

And you may have some success with the lawsuit.

I have a 2001 Dodge 2500 with the Cummins diesel. There was a known issue from 98.5-02 where if you had a "53 block" (you can google it) you would likely end up with a cracked block. The casting on 53 blocks was incorrect (Cummins outsourced to Brazil I beleive). People had failure after failure after failure for many years. Finally, enough folks banded together and sued. I received a class action settlement notice in the mail. I didn't buy the truck NEW, so I didn't qualify, but it was still sent a notice sent to me about the settlement.

If you are serious about starting a class action - then get serious about it. Actually contact a law firm. Most likely, the first thing they will tell you is the same as the first rule of fight club.. If you're going to sue someone, you don't freaking talk about it. Especially on the internet. Wait until they open a call for other owners to JOIN the lawsuit. Honestly, since you are an original owner... you probably have a better shot than most.
