Well they cut off my free trial, I didn't get all the stations so I figured I didn't get the full bitrate. I need get around to begging them for the 6mo for $30 (or something like that) to try it out. I hope it sounds better than what it did.

I belive the antenna may be at fault? It has a noticable 'tinny' sound to it, as if it is not getting a good signal. I have listened to sirius and XM in other vehicles at my location. And they have all had a very rich, clean sound. With plenty of Ommph!
My system is lacking badly, any others having the same complaint?
I have the Sony 10 speaker setup in my Titanium hatch and I think it sounds better than Sirius did in my Dodge Ram truck with Infinity "premium" sound setup. That being said, Sirius is heavily compressed and I have always thought it was "tinny" and thin. And I highly doubt they degrade their signal for trial subscriptions. Maybe if you complain enough or to the right person Ford will swap in a new Sirius receiver and/or antenna and then you would know if it is hardware or signal compression.

Don't you guys love when listening to HD radio and you lose the signal for a few seconds, and the volume skyrockets until you reaquire the HD radio single....

I do agree with the first poster though, Sirius radio sounds no where near as good as a CD or HD radio , but a lot better than regular FM.

I've never had Sirius in any car I've owned (haven't received my 2012 Titanium yet) but have driven a good many rental cars with it and my impression is that they compress the signal WAY TOO MUCH! You get that watery swishy sound that just plain s*cks... Why do people pay hundreds of dollars a year for that?

When I rip my CD's I use the max bit rate of about 192kbps. I haven't used any of the lossless codecs yet...

that reason I like sirius is because of the selection of music

i get tired of listening to all my old albums over and over. I have a 32gb USB full of songs but still 90% of the time listen to sirius

Back when Sirius and XM were starting out, the reviews said XM sounded much better than Sirius. Sirius was much more compressed than XM. Back before I had to switch to Sirius from XM after buying a Ford, XM was offering HD music channel. I don't know with the merger if that disappeared.
