2000 Ford Focus

I just found out I need to replace my fuel pump. Any of you guysrecommend a good fuel pump replacement? When, I drive the car it will hesitate than afterwards it will just die and won't start for 5 to 10 minutes?

I heard someone say all they did was clean the taank the fuel pump,sock and it fixed his issue. I plan on getting the tank cleaned since it will be dropped. Also, is there any other parts Ishould replace while doing this? I just want to make one stop getting parts.

I was able to clean the tank and sock on mine and it fixed the power loss and stalling issue. I didn't drop the tank though, I cut a hole in the floor under the back seat. I have pics in my gallery of where I cut it. If you're interested I can instruct you on how to make the cut.

There was a recall on the 2000 fuel pumps and the dealer changed it for free.


Don't know if the recall is still valid....

How do we check to see ? How can we tell if it has been done or not ? I bought this car back in 2006.

If you're going to drop the tank and everything, go ahead and change the fuel pump. I got one at AutoZone for $75 and it's lasted almost 70,000 miles so far with no problems. I'll try to find my threads on the swap.
