Power steering issue!!

So this morning on my way to work, I pull into my local gas station for my daily cup o Joe, and my power steering pump was screaming. Popped the hood and the reservoir fluid level was up to the neck and was loaded with air bubbles. Let it sit for a few minutes and it quieted back down. Took a quick peek underneath to make sure there wasn't any leaks and didn't see any.

Anybody have this issue and what was it?

Once it "quiets down", check the level - then work the wheel back & forth gently with the engine running & re-check the level.

That noise & foaming is typically what you get when the level is too low & it's trying to move air for lack of fluid...

Could be a small drip over time, how often does anyone check the P/S fluid? - And there is relatively little in reserve, the difference between full & empty is a very small amount of fluid....

Did an oil change and checked all fluids on Monday befor I came home from Canada. And all was good.

I'm beginning to think a seal is going bad somewhere that is allowing air to be pulled in.

i have had this issue as well, second time for me. first time took it to my local ford dealer and they had replaced basically everything inside the rack and put a new pump on it 2 weeks later it went out again failed to bring it back for warranty becasue i was out of town but mine rarely wines yet still no power steering im used to it now

Don’t allow too much time to pass. Set up another appointment with the local Ford dealer when you get a chance; unless of course you desire to continue developing those muscles!
