well, got mine done finally. got all the timing belt pulleys changed along with the water pump and i have almost 99k miles. however, the car is still in the shop lol. had to take it back after getting it home because on the way home the check engine light came on and it was P1381 "variable camshaft timing overadvanced." the old belt looked fine, but thats just me looking at it. just glad i got it done

I did it under 80000 and glad I did. I know it is ready to go for a while now without any issues.

2004 Screaming Yellow EAP SVT Focus at about 73,500 miles, Original Owner...

I was wondering about the belt and valve adjustments. I am usually changing the serpentine belt on my 24v DOHC Taurus every 30,000 miles or so but this lives indoors so I was curious about it and checking in the forum. I guess I will wait a while.

Wait a second - you're talking about the serpentine belt, and this thread is about the timing belt. Just making sure we're all on the same page...

Yes, I know. I consider belts to be roughly equivalent in terms of function even though they are doing a valve train or a power steering pump or even a final drive mechanism. They all need changing at some point. I would have preferred gear drive for this but it would have been too noisy for regulations, I suppose. The exposed belts die quicker than the covered ones. Thanks for the response.
