Wow Matt posted more than once! Some good points. I've never really been a car show participation person person but am sorta getting there. I like to go and check out cars if it doesn't cost too much. Otherwise I like to hang with fellow enthusiasts. Unfortunately my job does not give me weekends off. Quite the opposite this time of year as most of our business is done on the weekends. So I can't ask for a lot of weekend days off. Sorry if I need to plan and know for sure what day our meets will be because of possible changes due to other events I am not aware of.

I think your bitching is a bit childish Justin. There were 2... yes.. TWO WHOLE FOCI... with.... THREE WHOLE DOMESTIC TRUCKS and a SINGLE domestic muscle car with a few scattered neons. So in total.. what? 10-12 cars in a class? Even if you had a "Sport compact" class like you said you'd be OK with, that puts like 5 cars in the class. Still not enough to warrant a full on category. Honestly, I would have done the same crap.

The problem is not IR, the problem is the lack of people ON OUR PART showing up. Why do you guys think I don't really participate on the forums any more? You guys want respect in the car scene? We have to effing earn it, we can't just mildy mod our cars, throw on a team sticker and show up here and there as 2-3 man wolf packs. Let me guys know when you want to be a serious car club.

You want respect? We need to start showing up to everywhere we can. This DEFINITELY includes getting rid of the dumb idea to go to a WEEKLY MEET on the same day as a MONTHLY MEET. That blows my mind. There's like 3 or 4 of you that complain so much about how we aren't respected yet really don't put too much effort in to getting the respect.

I'm also tired of hearing this "Oh they're biased" shit. So. Effing. What. God forbid we have a good time hanging out, walking around looking at other nice cars, or oh, I dunno... maybe enjoying watch people take pictures of our own cars? Yes, lets all complain about how we didn't win a trophy and boycott the show. QEFFINGQ

p.s. Yes I brought it back up.
I don't know about other people, but this was on Easter weekend, so that prevented me from even being able to think about it. too many things going on.
It was believed that it was next weekend, until shortly before.
Keep in mind, I can't speak for any body else, so I'm just explaining my side.
If it had been predetermined that 3 cars were needed to have a class, then the 5 or so domestics sport compacts, should have been enough. I know the focus never hts respect, but how many times are we supposed to get slapped in the freaking face?
You talk about ahow going to a weekly meet on a day a monthly meet occurs needs to stop... How many times have you skipped on a meet because you simply didn't want to go?
I personally can't stand PZ meets because of how horribly they are ran. The cops never do anything. It's a freaking RICE convention (with an emphasis on IMMATURE), with very very few nice cars. I want to see tastefully modded cars.
I could go on for days, but....
/end rant

I've been to a couple PZ meets and was sadly disappointed. As Daniel said only a couple nice cars and the rest whatever. Biggest turnoff was/is the poor organization of it. Seems so trashy. Don't even care about "Ricer" aspect as I used to have a heavily modified Honda so I can appreciate. Just not a good show.

By ricer, I don't just mean imports. I'm talking "radically immature car enthusiast"
I've seen a bunch of really nice hondas, but I've seen way more not-so-nice ones

I personally like some honda's, hell I own one. I never been to any of those events....ever. Honestly I never even really been to a car show that I can even think of besides the ones at Fun Ford Weekend, which if any event should be the one we show up at. The last time I went (2008) I was the only 4 cyl there and I tried competing if wasn't for the diff eating it's self on the first practice run.

Agreed with Matt on most points. The only thing is the categories. In all honesty, the entire event (IR and AM) was a vast improvement over last year. I mean it was almost like I was at a completely different show. What I have a problem with is consistency on their part. I knew they were putting us in the same class with the Grand National, and I was fine with that. I figured "Okay well we won't have a top 3, but we will have a Best in class. Fine." We still would have lost, but it would have made sense.

They also had listed on their website a Best Truck class. There were 7 trucks. More than enough for it's own category. But for whatever reason, they got rid of that category entirely. Skip ahead skip ahead. Here is where the consistency issue comes into play. Let's ignore the fact that there was a Best Truck category last year when only one truck showed. Instead, how about the Best Classic category this year. There were maybe 2 or 3 classics there. I personally only counted 2 but maybe I missed one. ANYWAY, the 76 Celica won. Congrats to him. But wait. Why is it that they keep a class with only 2(or 3) cars, remove a class with 7 entries, and condense a number of cars from different classes into one class?

This may not be a big deal to you. That is understandable since it is not your priority. But bottom line: I go to car shows to win. Yes, I like looking at other cars and hanging with my friends. But there are a number of places I can do that without having to register and pay $45.

I will conclude this novel by reiterating that I agree with you on most of your points. We need participation. If we had that, this whole class issue wouldn't even be a topic of discussion.

^^ That sums up nicely what I have been so poorly trying to convey, I can and do hang with peeps for fun and to look at nice cars but I enter and PAY to get into a car show for the chance at a trophy. If the show is just going to throw me under the bus EVERY TIME then I might as well be throwing my money off a bridge for what little difference it makes. There was no reason to do what they did other than insult us, and you can say that they aren't biased all you want but the fact of the matter is NO focus will ever win an award at an import show unless we have 10+ and even when we do, it's a FORD class not a Focus class, how many awards last year were given to cars that had 2 or 3 show up and had a specific award for it?

That's what I am mad about it's not about losing it's about the blatant disrespect that we continually get from import show organizers and judges. My judge asked me some questions and took a grand total of 10 seconds looking at my car before walking off. Didn't look under the hood, in the cab, walk around it, or anything like that. Got my score sheet, and mod list asked a couple questions, and walked off.

guys, I need a word of advice, most of the dents I have unfortunately can't be cured with PDR, so I need to take it to the body shop, can you advise any good ones in Houston area?
And I also need a good mechanic who can do the timing belt change.

Till now I never been lucky on that matter, not even once I felt the job was done good on my car, so I'm not taking that risk with my SVT, I want to go to some place you will recommend, and in case of the timing belt I want someone who has already worked on SVT before.

ps. what is a "PZ meet" ?
