I have a good relationship with the tech at my dealer. He says he has relocated and rewired the microphones on several Explorers and Edges to solve similar problems. I'm going to have him do the same for me and hopefully I'll finally be able to use my handsfree!

Hmm well I certainly hope I can. I will find out. I did a little research and there seems to be no issues using multiple BT devices paired to a single phone. I doubt they would allow me to use both at the same time for the actual conversation which I have no intention of doing.

If your tech does in fact resolve your issue to your complete satisfaction please let me know exactly what he did so I can have the same done for mine as well. I would certainly like to have the built in handsfree work but if I have to use a 3rd party product to get the same functionality I'll do that for now.

Thanks

Murray,

Sorry to hear that. I was hoping you might have had some luck with that. Although I had my doubts that would fix it only because it would make sense if it were wiring that the issue would be present even when you were parked where wind noise wouldn't be a factor.

This might have been mentioned but the other day while I was recording some tests I would tap the mic several times. When playing back you could notice that during the taps on the mic the background wind tunnel noise went near silent. I think the only fix for this issue unfortunately going to be in the Noise Cancellation software thats likely built into the handsfree system. Whether that can be updated via Firmware or not, who knows but were likely not going to see that resolved since the MFT 3.x update that JUST CAME OUT was supposedly going to improve Voice calls and reduce background noise. I guess Ford assumes they did that and I don't expect they'll touch back on it until the next MFT release which will likely be later than sooner.

THis certainly doesn't excuse Ford for not fixing this!. Its a shame with all the high tech stuff in these cars that they would allow the Voice calls to have that level of background noise to the point where nobody would want to use it.

Just an update on my workaround with the Jabra Freeway

It looks larger in the pic but I was surprised it's pretty compact. Its about the size of my Iphone in a Lifeproof case. If your not familiar with that case then basically its just a tad bit bigger than an iphone 4.

So I let it charge completely and when I got out to the car I slipped it over the driver's visor and it fits great. It was very easy to pair. I would say ridiculously easy.

I was curious mainly how it would seem to integrate with my existing SYNC Hands free so I got up on the highway and made a call into my voicemail first with Sync. Playback was HORRIBLE (no surprise there). Next call I simply reached up and pressed the voice button on the Jabra and it asked for a command. I said. Phone commands and it activated my Iphone's built in voice dialer. I told it to call my Voicemail which it did. This time I tested a recording on the highway going 70+. Playback was clear and sounded like my handset basically. Background was very minimal. The music I was listening too on Sync was muted. It obviously detects the phone is in use.

SO I tested with a friend of mine. I started with the Sync hands free and he said I sounded like I had my head sticking out the sunroof. LOL. I was curious if I could successfully transfer a call to the Jabra. I tapped the phone button on the Jabra and the call routed right to it. The difference was night and day.

The little Jabra is nice though. The built in speaker sounds really good. Its not the same as hearing the call over the speakers in the car but the jabra is right there over my head so you can hear just fine and the biggest benefit is they can hear you perfectly. Its also cool because when you get in the car it says. Connected. It will auto turn off when you leave the car. It uses a motion sensor to detect that your in the car and powers up.

I'll continue to use this as a workaround until there's ever a real fix from ford on this issue.

Just wanted to share my workaround with ya.

B.

Oh wow. I guess wouldn't be a total waste if they do end up fixing it. My Jabra is still working well as a temp solution while I keep my fingers crossed FORD will step up and fix this once and for all. I personally think the fix will be a completely updated Dual Mic and possibly software update for Sync/MFT.
