OK finished in four days. now drives like the new car I tested with 30 miles on it, and the SE rental I had for 3 days with 4500 miles on it. Still waiting to find out what the "1000 mile break in period" really does.

I'm happy after 11 months that the tech staff is now able to correct this problem.

I suppose bringing in a TSB printout is taken as telling the service people how to do their jobs?

They have procedures to follow with Ford, and perhaps that doesn't include looking at an insulting printout?

BTW, my dealer did take my printout, and applied the update it referred to.

Cooperative, friendly, and professional. I have no complaints with my dealer experience.

My car now drives like the ones I tested.

I could have taken my car into the dealer sooner, but wanted to absolutely identify what was going on, and which gears were affected.

BTW, I had the clutch assembly replaced for gears 2, 4, and 6.

That clutch didn't like the revving, gear hunting and slipping issues, and protested loudly, at the end.

All is well.

You've probably already said, but what's the build date of your car?

I dropped off my car for the MFT update this morning, and mentioned that the DCT shuddered and had some dead spots while accelerating.

When I picked up the car, I was surprised to find that the dealer performed the 12-01-04 TSB update. I was half expecting a "could not duplicate" entry on the work order.

After putting on 120 miles of highway/suburban/urban miles this afternoon and evening, I never noticed a single shudder, and the DCT was more receptive to my right foot. I still have some dead spots, but they are minor compared to what I experienced before the update.

The only missing variable is warm weather. It was between 35 and 45 degrees F today, and most of the shuddering I encountered in the past occurred when the temps were 70 plus degree F.

Time will tell, but I'm happy so far.

Well, dropped my car off half an hour ago for the steering wandering issue and stated specifically that I wanted them to look into 12-1-4 to address the issues I informed them of last time (they weren't open yet, so wrote it down on the little issues/service request sheet they have there with the key drop-off). We'll see what happens. I'm fully expecting them to say that there once again isn't any error codes being thrown and therefore no issue , but we'll see.

let me remind everyone with shudders ... that there is NO REASON that your car should drive any worse than a brand new demo car that hasn't been "broken in"

Use that as the standard to which you want your car to run.

It took me 11 months to realize that the 1000 mile BS break in period was just that. these transmissions are just under MFT as a "released" too soon ford screw up.

I'm thinking about the "extended" warrantee once again.
