Given that SPI is a ticking time bomb, would this help? anyone from FF tried it?

Can't believe I never saw your thread. Sadly, I don't know much about engines, so I don't want to say go for it, if I'm wrong.

It does show in the part description on their website that this is a head that has had the upgraded aftermarket valve seats. I would say go for it if you are wanting to replace the head. I have an SPI as well and it runs like a champ for now and I just went over 75k miles. I am planning on doing the Zetec swap but builduing it up for a turbo install before i drop it in. How is your progress coming along with your car. I saw this was an older thread so just thought I would ask. Did you get all of your issues resolved?

I have a zetec but I don't assume the spi is junk. Yes the valve seat is a issue but as seen posted here it can be remedied cheaply, plus there is no denying the mpgs compared to a zetec. Even when mine was stock I got 28 to 29 I achieved 32 once but I still think it was a math error haha. I know buddies with spi that are around 35 or 36mpg.

from the original problems with car:

vibrations -> all 3 motor mounts completely useless, after changing em the difference was like night to day, anyway those were the aftermarket ones and the tbone failed again 3 months later, luckily it's cheap and i was able to change it so it cost me 25$.

jumbo jet sound -> well that was something around exhaust manifold that ruptured, with my car knowledge at the time i didn't even understand what the mechanic has explained to me :P

I had problem lately with wiring to the battery, solved in this thread:
http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=283099

Currently I'm looking at belt and belt tensioner, and it's because of two things
1. i get the typical 'old belt' noise when turning on/off the AC
2. there is some vibration in motor that seems to be related to AC speed

Glad to hear you got everything resolved I saw your post and started reading from the beginning. when I heard you talk about the noise and vibration I immediately new motor mounts. I had the same issue when I bought my SPI a few months ago. I have been through my car so many times and have really learned a lot from this forum.

I hope everything continues to work out for you and your foci. Do you have any further plans with it?

Sell it and use the extra money to refresh svt, or keep it but this would require some work, replacing belt and tensioner, getting a reworked head, and keeping up with maintenance cost of 2 cars.

I do tho, have some long term plans for svt, i really like spi but i am completely in love with svt :P
