ok, now that's a weird one
It just happened the second time in 2 days, when i insert the key and turn it to start the engine, at first step all the check lights come up as they should, then when i try to start the car it just makes a half-ass attempt and fails, and then.. i'm left with no electricity in car, and what i mean by that is when i turn key again the control lights wont lit anymore, if i try many times i can hear the horn switch clicking very fast, the immobilizer light also blinks fast and it will stay this way no matter if the key is turned or if its even there, but no control lights come up on dashboard....... sometimes radio comes up, but no way it would ever allow you to recover, go figure.... i need to disconnect battery, and reconnect it and it helps, but i don't want it to be a part of my start engine routine.
battery is new and kicking, it's even a bit stronger than recommended, any ideas? |

Meh.

It definitely sounds like your battery. Have you charged the battery and tried starting it yet?
Your battery hasn't necessarily gone bad but you may have a drain somewhere that is draining the battery.

well, in my focus when battery goes dead, it will still bring up all control lights, and radio will work, or at least horn, but... in this case i tries 2 batteries already, and same story, i switch key to second stage and all is ok, i try to start engine and it fails, when i turn again for another attempt there is no response from car, total blackout, immobilizer diode blinks rapidly and i hear the horn switch making clicking noise to the same rythm (about 3 per second), but of course there is no sound from horn even when i press it.... the solution is to disconnect battery, wait one minute, and try again, and again till works. very strange stuff,

fuse? but how does reconnecting battery makes fuse fix itself temporarily?
well, i don't know if problem is fixed permanently now, but i cleaned up the wiring and connectors to the battery, they were rusty and it kinda looked like there is some spark party going there at times judging by melted plastic at point where it is touching the connector. Now, 3 days and maybe 30 engine starts later it looks like it worked. |
