Think when I drop it off in a few days (they still have it right now since I am without a car and have no way to get there currently. Getting to work when it goes back in is going to be interesting) after they get the parts in I am going to ask specifically for them to check the transmission TSB since according to the text of it it deals directly with a number of things I am experiencing.

I had scheduled my appointment a week ago and the tech who set it up said they'd probably need it most of the day for testing and fixing. Dropped off the car and a half hour later received a call asking what I wanted looked at. Apparently the guy I set it up with wasn't there today and they had no clue why my car was in for service. I had to explain my issues again (not a huge deal, but somewhat disappointing wrt preparedness). Three hours later received a call explaining the above.

I was honestly much more interested in the transmission update than the steering wandering issue since the transmission effects me at a much greater frequency, but oh well, progress is progress.
IF your dealer wont pick you up in a courtesy vehicle, you need a new dealer. Just call em and tell em you have no ride. They will pick you up. hope it works out for ya.

Tell me again what the 1000 mile BS thing is supposed to do?

so Tranmission specialist actually drove car yesterday [we are at 5500 miles in 11 months] and said this is not right ... and currently he is "researching" what to do. But is thinking that we probably are going to need a new clutch. I'm thinking that if that clutch change is like the new car ... I won't even have to think about the BS 1000 break in period again.

Maybe the BS 1000 mile break in period was just to see if the old clutch would make the grade ... sort of like a coin toss?
I'm getting a new clutch. I'll let you know how it is... Tomorrow is the 'latest' they say they'll have it.. I'm hoping for a call today.

did you have to go through the whole "TSB then break-in" thing?

No. My car has 13,500 miles.. I just went in for the update and I got a call saying my clutch needs to be replaced. The transmission guy looked at it. I guess I lucked out?

I was actually wondering today about just this... how common is it for dealers to offer a loaner?

My car is now in for its 3rd overnight visit in <3 months of ownership and I've still yet to get offered one. Sure, they'll pick me up, but the dealer is 35-40 minutes from my office and 20-25 minutes from my house... it's quite inconvenient to have to wait for their schedule to get home or to work. Thankfully, I've been able to carpool with my wife up to this point.

Anyway, don't want to hijack this too far. Probably a discussion for another thread.

I ask for a car. The first time I asked for one I got a rental, 2nd time was a loaner, and this time it's a loaner b/c Enterprise didn't have any cars.

I did get an extended warranty though so it does include rental.

Ahh, well then it's covered under the ESP. I haven't purchased an ESP yet although I do plan to before I hit 12K/1yr.

I have an ESP. I thought the car was only available for if they had to keep your car for more than a day? I really should read what I sign.
