Those of us with nav who upgraded have no functioning nav system without the SD card maps update. We can only get that by mail or a dealer who is willing to let go of an SD card.

I called Ford today to find out if I would receive the update via USB thingy in the mail since my car is only a few weeks old (1/2012 build date). They said no, I would have to bring it to the dealer. So I asked if I could do it myself via down loading the update from the web site. The gal I spoke to looked into and came back and said no because of when my car was made. So it seems only a dealer can do my update......??

Hmmm, interesting. That's not quite the same but similar to what I was told except that the guy I talked to said that I would get it in the mail, and that when I did I HAD to go to the dealer for "Additional" updates. I asked what they were but he wasn't able to tell me. I think I am going to try to do it myself, and see what I get. I'd rather not visit the dealer until I need my next service, and will see about these mysterious "Additional" updates then.

I have Nav, so waiting for the mail. Nothing yet in FL.

I just experienced my first issue with whatever version came before the update.

I was on my way home using my phone when I hung up--the system froze. No response to anything.

I turned off the road, shut the car off, opened the door to force the system off. My center display went off (in instrument cluster) but the MFT screen stayed on for 5 minutes.) It finally went black and I turned the car on. I got the SYNC screen and maintenance screen--then it loaded.

Awesomeness, I'm so happy, I finally experienced an issue LOL.

LOL SO I called Ford yesterday to find out when I might be getting the update.
Ford tells me that I'm not on the list yet, but to check back in late April if I don't receive it.
THEN I get my mail and what do you know.. I RECEIVED it yesterday. Do NOT think that you'll get accurate information if you call Ford.. They don't seem to know who they mailed the update to. HAHA.. THANKS Ford.

Go figure....
Installation went fine. No glitches yet.....
But, I've tried to confirm installation of MFT and keep getting either or an error message or the (computer) screen freezes. (Is that ironic, or what)
Asked for Java update, another plug in, etc.
Anybody else had this problem? Fix?

Only one test so hardly conclusive but my observations:
..... Didn't notice and lag or anything. Hardly put it through the paces but just a quick test. Route recalculation was what impressed me most. Definitely going to have to give it a little more rigorous workout.
Good to hear of the initial success and look forward to hearing more feedback from you (and others) on the updated NAV. I did not get NAV but if it ever stabilizes, I am going to push hard to see if I can add it my MFT. I have heard mixed reports on whether Ford will do it after the initial sale. My $99 TomTom works like a dream but the suction cup on the windshield and cord hanging down takes away from the slick Focus interior.

I'm still going to wait on upgrading. Haven't had anything happen for awhile now.
I'm just not a fan of the new layout and the loss of a clean empty screen like:

Sorry for the blurry pic, I took it this morning while driving
Oh sure, Torture us twice, once with the cool LOST screen, and again with that obnoxious NFL logo.

I actually hadn't had a major issue is days. Just small glitches like buttons not working. For example: Couldn't for the life of me get the wallpaper select scroll bar "up" arrow to work. It's these small bugs that are easily forgiven, but just add up to frustration over time.
It's road trip season for me and if the damn NAV system fails again, I'm going to have to take it in. That's intolerable.
