If I remember right leases are not that great on a Titanium Focus hovering around $400/mo (you could buy one for that) but it all depends.

I work for an employer that qualifies me for the X plan, but I have had 2 dealers tell me that normal pricing starts $200 below invoice. My question is, after dealer paperwork costs, which is the better deal, x plan or regular negotiation?

At my dealership you're better buying X plan because after everything is added you get a better price.

Yeah I kinda knew that I was in some sort of limbo situation. I haven't really started dealing yet, those were just information tidbits thrown out by both parties. thanks for the help again.

Thanks imccrea for all your help! I'm look for:
Zip: prefer 61265 for lower taxes, but can also shop around 60559 Model: 2012 Focus SE Hatchback Transmission: Manual Equipment: 203A Color (In order of preference): Sterling Grey, Sonic Blue, Kona Blue, Ingot Silver, Oxford White, Tux Black Exterior/Interior: SE Sport Package I'm expecting invoice to be around $19.5k. Would prefer no other options, but willing to take winter package if absolutely necessary. I found some M/Ts around St. Louis, but those have since disappeared. Seems either Focii in general or M/T's are selling hotter now, will that affect future months' incentives? Currently driving a 1997 with 200k+ miles. Wasn't planning on trading it in, but mentioning in case there's incentive there. Plan on getting loan at credit union at 1.9% before negotiating with dealers. I'm a federal civilian employee, not sure if that that carries any benefits. I'm aware of a $2k rebate (told not tied to FMCC) until Apr 2. I've signed up for a brochure on Ford's website, so hope to have the mailer/brochure rebate at least in the system. imccrea, are there any nearby with prices and any other rebates available? Would other members here suggest using auto programs like Costco or USAA rather than negotiating over email/phone? Does anybody have experiences with negotiating dealer trades when the exact car you want is in another lot? Thanks again. Last edited by Glucose; 03-18-2012 at 01:41 AM. Reason: clarity |

I'm looking to buy a black 2012 Focus Titanium sedan in the next few months with the following options:
-Titanium Premium Package (401a) -Parking Technology Package -Winter Package -Moonroof -Remote Start System -Voice Activated Navigation I think I'll have to order this, but could you check to see if any like this are available in New England (I'm in area code 01879)? Also, do you know what I could expect to pay for this before rebates/other incentives? MSRP is $26,740. Thanks! |

2012 Candy Blue SFE
First and foremost, thank you imccrea! Your information has been very valuable.
On Friday night I traded in my 2007 XLT Escape FWD with 74k miles for $7k. Dealer initially offered $6k, but came back with $7k. Here was my frustration -- the salesman (Larry) knew nothing about the Focus. I knew more than he did, which was frustrating. Fortunately I had done my homework, and knew what I wanted. One odd thing was this -- it was a Friday night, we went in at around 6pm (dealer closes at 8), and they were insistent that we close the deal and I take delivery Friday night. I had told them I'd buy it, but that I'd rather come back Saturday morning to finish up the paperwork, but they really didn't want me to do that. We ended up finishing at 9:45pm. Why were they so adamant about me taking delivery the night of the sale? I had A-Plan pricing, so I ended up leasing a 2012 Candy Blue 202A with the Fuel Economy package for 2 years with 12k miles a year. I applied $1700 of my trade in value, plus an additional $2100 down, plus #500 RCL cash to come to payments of $200.51 a month. They also threw in SiriusXM Satellite radio for no additional charge. Did I get a good deal? Thanks again imccrea! |
