A simple fix for the microphone wind noise issue

Someone may have already said this, but there's a good chance it's just your phone. The insulation alone works for most of us so I can't imagine why after all of that it still isn't working out for you.

i don't think it is my phone. I also have the issue that it works fine at stop or low speeds. noise is only there at faster speeds.

I did a brief test this morning. I have the top of my mic completely sealed off with a piece of half inch compressed foam. Practically the same kind that earplugs are made out of. :) I checked it yesterday and I cut it just perfectly to where its wedged in and not even daylight can reach the mic from the top side.

This morning I did a test and when I put my palm over the mic the play back was absolutely SILENT. So the noise is coming from the over amp'd Mic in the overhead. Its not picking up squat from the backside.

Does anyone know if I could turn down the volume on my Bluetooth Volume via my Iphone would that lower the sensitivity of the mic? If it is in fact the phones fault that someone mentioned maybe this would explain it.

If not I will try to figure a way to maybe lessen the sensitivity of the mic somehow.

@dysam911..I did the same thing this weekend and the wind noise was still terrible. It just clicked in my head that I do have the Bluetooth volume maxed out on the phone itself. When I get my car back from the shop I'll test it out. If I knew how to work a iPhone I would help you but I'm an Android guy. I have zero knowledge on apple products.

No problem bro. Let me know if that works for you. I know the Iphone has the same capability. I just didn't think to try it yet.

The only way to turn down the volume for the Bluetooth to my knowledge (on my phone in general) is when you're on the phone via Bluetooth just press down on the volume rocker on the device itself.

You can't control the sensitivity of the microphone in the car with the volume in the phone. The volume control in the phone can control what is being sent from the phone to the car only.

There would need to be a sensitivity adjustment in the Sync system in the car.

Probably a hidden option or service menu we don't have access too.

just talked to a sync tech (rep, so maybe not 100% knowledgeable) but she said the mic sensitivity is not adjustable in the car, so maybe it is a buried setting...

Sheila: There is not way to adjust that. You may want to have your dealership check the microphone to ensure it is operating properly.
