We've updated the our reliability stats for the Focus (on our redesigned site) to include owner experiences through December 31, 2011.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2012: 52

2010: 48, small sample size

2009: 58

2008: 42, better than average

2007: 54, better than average

2006: 36, better than average

2005: 100

2004: 63, better than average, small sample size

2003: 136

2002: 110

2001: 101

2000: 88, better than average

About average except where noted.

Thank you, once again, to everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in May and August. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and fully cover all model years.

We're especially interested in providing some quick our reliability stats for the new 2012. 31 cars signed up so far, a very fast start.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2012: 43, about average

2010: 40, about average

2009: 28, better than average

2008: 14, better than average

2007: 43, better than average

2006: 27, better than average

2005: 48, better than average

2004: 44, better than average, very small sample size

2003: 111, worse than average

2002: 141, worse than average

2001: 71, better than average, small sample size

2000: 46, better than average, very small sample size

We'll have further updates in February and May. With more owners involved, we could provide more precise information and fully cover all model years.

Updated stats later this month.

The more owners have involved, the better the information we can provide.

Additional participants especially helpful for the 2004 and older cars, as members have been selling these, dropping the sample sizes near or even below the minimum.

No idea about this particular additive or additives in general, but if something does actually clean out a dirty fuel system it would improve performance and fuel economy.
