If he has a titanium, he has keyless entry. It should have unlocked.

I agree, I'm not quite sure how this happened either.

The only way I can see this happening is if the battery in the fob was dead, which wouldn't explain how you *got* there (since it wouldn't let you start the car).
Anytime the fob is in the car and the car hasn't been run since the doors closed the doors will unlock. Also, the button on the dash won't lock the doors if any of them are open. This whole thing confuses me! When you get out, you hit the button on the dash? That would lock, then unlock the doors (since one, or more, of the doors would be open at that point). In addition, if the fob was in the car when you try to lock it (via another fob or the handle), it does the same thing. It will lock, then unlock (or in the case of the handle just honk to complain without locking). One of the only problems I have with this system is that you *can't* lock the fob in the car at all (which would be great when you take it to get serviced somewhere but you can't get back by the end of the day). |

Could have been the battery. Tried to recreate the issue with the spare and it unlocked everytime. Didn't use my original for the test though, but it seems logical.

What I didn't mention was my wife couldn't find the spare fob right away, so she actually had to come get me and we had to leave the car in the mall parking lot. I was FREAKING OUT about that!!! Then about 10:30pm when I mentioned that I was going to check my golf bag that she thought to look in her tennis bag...and there it was. What a relief!!

I had this very thing happen to me yesterday....Unlocked the car, put my purse/keys on the passenger seat and shut the door....went over to the driver's side and the door was locked....all the doors were locked. I was told you couldn't lock your keys in this car? AAA came and since the keys were laying right on the seat, he reached in through the window with a long apparatus and pushed the unlock button on the keys and all the doors unlocked.....so you definitely CAN lock your keys in the car.

This happened to me over the summer! At the car wash I got out to wipe the car down and when I went to go back in the car was locked and my keys were in the cup holder! I had to have someone come get me with the spare key! I thought the car would never lock with the keys in it but it def will!

My focus as well as my last car was supposed to have lock out protection.. BUT... both of them have the ability to lock the keys in the car if something isnt quite right somewhere... I've done it myself, thankfully the spare was in the house and i was at home...
So i never shut the door with the keys in the car unless one of the windows are down.. |
