I think this mentality harkens back to the day of the 3 speed hydromatic. I am glad we live in the day of the computer automated, servo actuated, dual clutch 6 speed manual transmission. I personally like to embrace new technology.

Evo or STI? The ST does not compete with those cars (from a marketing or performance point of view). They are not even close.

The VW GTI (the car that Ford is primarily targeting with the ST) is available with an automatic.

The ST is not some badass performance car (a Camry V6 has more HP and faster 0-60). It is a well balanced road car that was born and bred in Europe.

You don't consider the Nissan GT-R (which has an automatic transmission) to be a performance car?

Yes by all since of the word it is but if you read into it they are having a done of issues with the trannys and have bought some gtrs back because of it. I put it in that class because what other ford takes up that spot?

The "go to" Porsche transmission is the PDK. The manual, even in the best skilled hands, is no match for it.

Also also, I'd like to feel what a dual-clutch automatic can *really* do. All in all, the road feel of the 6-sp auto in the 2012 focus is horrible and listless.

im no engineer but i have drove my own share of the new focus automatics and they are horrable thats all im saying. What it "can" do you will never see because they will limit it like they do everything else, thats where people like tom come in to tweek the tunes.

and why do i even care im not buying one because they are all 4 doors i will wait to see how the fiesta st turns out maybe they will make it a 3 door
