as of earlier this week I was. outlooks changed a little since then. Im going back to the stock IM for the time being because I have a good tune for that and the JY engine has a 6mo warranty. if I do go back to the cossie Im going to find a way to keep the PCV and make it bulletproof. mechanic says the old engine had high crank case pressure despite the pcv being drilled out and run to a vented catch can -__-

As of right now a JY mtor with 38k is going in, stock IM, stock PCV, light flywheel, CM stage 3 and a torsen are all going in as well. Im gonna swap out the sportlines for the spec focus springs and have fun with the car. well see what happens down the line

I DO have a 2.0l that needs a rebuild now... if I can save id either do a 2.5L swap or build a 2.0 with the forged miata crank and other goodies

Keep me filled in with this because even though i have 2.3 head i still want a strong bottom end. I think i just differ as far as just 2.0 parts only because i got my hands on a 2.3 crank from a 2.3 ranger. I just love the duratec. Is going to be just a daily driver or a track car??

has to be my daily, so if I were to build a 2.0 id be looking at a cam in the stage 2 range and ~11.5:1 compression. well see what the next few months hold though, hoping to make a decision either way by summer

so I now have a 2.0 that needs rebuilding. looked into the intake ports and the divider between the valves in ports 2 and 3 is fatter than the ones in 1/4. is there a reason for this? id imagine itd be a good idea to do some light clean up work to get them to match

hmm... i could not see a difference between the ports, get rid of the little "lip" at the edge/bottom of the intake ports, use a flap wheel to polish up the ports some and try and smooth out / open up the exhaust ports they seem to have some decent area inside but then really close up right at the edge.

One of my spare heads is at the machine shop getting some work done, ill post some pics when i get it back, end of this week or next week sometime.

Yeah mine look about the same except for the divider between the valves. middle two are a bit thicker than the outer. thanks!

I have the junk 2.0 sitting around and was checking it out. I always thought the ports were all the same within the same head. Maybe its not as much of a diff as Im seeing but i figure Id ask. No money right now do a rebuild anyway lol
