Is the AFR gauge going really lean again, like original issue? I just went through a super lean condition myself. Running easy it was 17 + on the gauge. If I even tried to step on the gas it went blank , 18 or over. I found my O2 sensor wasn`t plugged in all the way. With out it working, ECM must go into limp mode. Plugged it back in and no problems. Just an idea...

Was totally the pump. We changed it and all better. They showed me the old one. We all couldnt believe the Ford OE pump lasted to 196,000 plus miles. It was uuuuuugggglllllyyyy looking to say the least lol. But all together, was only $400 bucks. Tossed the mechanic an extra hundred to make it $500 since I brought my own part in. Nicest shop I have ever been to; especially since I only met them that morning and they got me in and took care of me.

Got it fixed in Kissimmee. Was weak on the highway and started sputtering into the hotel lot. Was able to get it to the mechanics in the AM.

Did they show you how dirty the strainer on Pump was? A lot of the time the strainer on the pump gets clogged and that causes the pump not build proper pressure.

Everything was nasty. Pump was all original 196,000 miles. Clear tubes were dark tan almost full poop brown. Screens were same color as the tubes. Was just nasty.

Oh and note....new PFS162 pump from motorcraft....bad sending unit. Won't read the gas right. Before they put it in, they checked the float and bar against the old one because sometimes they bend from shipment and delivery or from the factory.

Matched the old one and put it in....needle never reaches full and is a 1/4 tank off. Pulled it our and bent the float bar. Still 1/4 off :(
