Engine Mounts - Aftermarket any good? (i.e. westar, etc...)
Hey Guys,
I have a 2000 ford focus with a serious vibration problem. The passenger side motor mount is definitely bad. The OEM motor mount from a dealer is $107. However there are a lot of aftermarket motor mounts on the web for anywhere between $25 to $40. Does anyone have any experience using these mounts. The reviews on Amazon for one brand - were not very good. Has anyone had any positive experience with a aftermarket motor mount? |

They're alright but don't last as long, or that's what people say, I never bought a OEM mount for cost reasons. I've already been through two of the Anchor brand passenger side mounts. of course I drive my car a lot harder than most and it has mods to deal with.

You can get oem pass mount from Tousley ford for around $70. Don't waste money on the non oem unless you want poly. Otherwise you'll replace them way sooner than you ever would the oem just like sleepy had to. I wouldn't want to keep replacing a mount cuz I wanted to save a few bucks cuz then in the end you're not saving anything.

Well most people don't keep there cars as long as I have or drive like I do or have as many mods as me (not that I have a lot just the ones that count). And to be honest I think the motor is a little tweaked in the engine bay like MichealAnthony's link says. Must have been from the worn out poly on the bottom when I put the other mounts on. Sucks, when one goes sure bet the others are gone already or going to be. Ordering another mount anyways, no cash to upgrade right now. If I loosed the fluid on this one then I will make my own poly mount out of it. Dunno if anyone else saw that thread on here?

On what ever Foci you have, it's a good idea to use a poly "Dogbone"= roll restricter, keep's the motor from rolling around. You could use poly insert's on the stock= heavy mount, or there are a few differnt one's out there, w/ VF engineering being a common one. A slight vibration @ idle, but well worth it= smoother shifting, easier on the other mount's.
