An October ST release might be a good strategic plan for Ford. That would allow for a slow production ramp up and allow the car to get out in the media and generate a buzz. That slow ramp up could be ideal to make sure the car is really ready for prime time. Come spring 2013 sales might sky rocket and production could be ramped up without any quality glitches. My plan would be get one for good weather use only and keep my 2006 ST as a daily driver.

Interesting observation and do we really anticipate any major glitches with the ST coming to North America? Afterall, the Focus ST has existed in Europe for some time and we know it will not be a trim level rather a brand of it's own so will this high-performance model be significantly different from what's already available in Europe?

I'd guess the glitches will be fairly well sorted out. After what Ford did with the MFT and their automatic transmission they've used up a measure of goodwill among the loyal.

Car and Driver named the Focus to their Top 10 list but essentially said . . . they love the car but whatever you do steer clear of the MFT and automatic. I have both and have simply learned to live with them.

The auto, since it won't be offered in the ST, is not going to be a problem and the Ford manual is getting rave reviews. The MFT, predicated on what we see when we all get our thumb drives in the mail later this month, may well be on the way to being sorted out.

I'm thinking the ST has a lot going for it . . . not the least of which is a well developed BOK based on prior European sales.

I'm excited to see how Ford rolls it out and supports the car.

Yes, I hear much about the MFT causing grief hopefully the ST will see something different before it's released ? What exactly are the problems with the automatic trans ? I've been driving stick the last 7 years and as a daily drive each year in bumper to bumper traffic starts to wear on you. Oh well, the car is so sweet 'suppose you can convince me to live with 6-speed manual transmission. Only two pedals in this baby would just not do it justice anyways!

I just don't care for the motor noise to be piped into the interior of the ST. What's up w/ that Ford? I'd rather have them throw a torsen on board, compared to motor noise's. Performance over the fluff.

Lots of automakers do the piped-in engine noise management. Porsche and Lexus are big on it.

ford is getting big on it to mustangs have had it since the 4.6 3v i believe i think its a cool thing really. We played around with a new 5.0 mustang and drove it stock and then took it off and it does make it sound diffrent but if i bought a performance car the stock intake would be in the closet before the first oil change anyways just like it was when i bought the svt

I'm with you, I want the performance so everyone looking at my exhaust will hear it just fine.

The wife and I just recently bought our 08' SES, but we are already excited to add this to the line-up(If we are able to). Should have the SES paid off in 2-3 years. Not sure I'll be able to contain myself once they're actually out and I take it for a test drive.
