I dig the new Mustang, but I have a wife and two boys to haul around, so a 2+2 coupe isn't very practical for me. I look forward to seeing what forced induction options become available, maybe I'll turn my SE into an sleeper...

The 2012 SE with the sport package is nice, if you add some forced induction that thing will be a sleeper. I've read they didn't have to do a lot of changing to the regular Focus suspension on the ST, so handling is already good on the new base car.

Building a WRX turns out to be about $32,500 with everything that I want in the Focus ST: leather, moon roof, fog lights, nav, sub-woofer, and I probably forgot some things. Given that the regular focus gets 37mpg highway and the impreza with the new 2.0 engine gets 36mpg even with AWD. If the WRX gets a turbocharged 2.0 like it is rumored to get the gas mileage should be 1 or 2 mpg under the ST. It would be worth an extra $2500-3000 for 15 extra HP, AWD, and not having to deal with MFT to have navigation. Ford is going to have to keep the price pretty low for the ST to be competitive.

What will really be interesting is the new Dodge Dart, it was a HUGE hit at the auto show. R/T has 184hp, and if SRT gets a hold of it you know it's going to be boosted like crazy, and it has Alpha Romeo underpinnings. It's base price is MUCH lower and with the good suspension DNA and 240HP it could be a real performance bargain.

There must be crazy incentives where you live because invoice is like 28k. You got a really good deal. |

I hope the ST is not $30K - I think they will lose a lot of sales to VW's Golf R at that price. The Golf R has AWD and comparable hp.

I gotta jump in on the new ST pricing. I have a 2006 ST that I bought new. I just went and looked at the window sticker and the MSRP was $17.040. Options I have on mine are moonroof, alarm, heated seats, traction control, sony 6 CD audiophile system, side air bags, and leather sport bucket seats for a total MSRP of $20,365 (I paid less but that's the MSRP). If you figure inflation is at least 3% per year that would add another $600 per year to the price which would give a price of $23,965 for an equivalent car today. The new ST will be better equipped than my 2006. I don't see how Ford could have an MSRP lower that 25K and likely more because of more features (competitive pressure might keep the price lower though). I'm thinking a new ST will be around 27 or 28K and that is what I would expect to pay (Ford could have incentives but might not need them for the ST if it's received well).

The Golf R is closer in price to the STI.
Don't forget the STI's either. The ST has to be less exspensive then the wrx you would think.
