Mercon V atf in mine for the last 15K miles. I wanted to try something else but ran into a time crunch and settled for the Mercon V and I have no complaints about shift feel, and it doesn't hurt that it's multiple times cheaper than the other recommendations. I also emptied the fluid a couple weeks ago while diagnosing a problem and it looked brand new still.

My theory now is that it might be better to run a cheaper fluid like Mercon V and just change it yearly, although that's probably overkill. I might try some 5w30 full synthetic next.

+1... I run the "Ford Honey" in my 02 SVTF and ran it in my 00 SVTC for 4 years as well. It's pricey but it's what the SVT Engineers/Ford recomends and I've never had any problems with it what so ever.

Tom... What are the benefits of running engine oil in our Getrags? Pros/Cons?

Funny you say that.........I'm running Amsoil European motor oil in my getrag and absolutely love it. I think it is whatever floats a persons boat anymore. How's Mexico Tom? Did you get an RS yet.........c'mon you know you want to.

I know it's an old thread. Just put syncromax in mine but the royal purple site states the their 10w-40 is the substitution for the xt-m5-qs. Not syncromax.

I have been running Red Line MTL for a year now. I am thinking about draining it and going Mobil 1 come spring.

Yikes! Indeed you're right.

Hope I haven't done bad by running Synchromax in mine for the past 61K miles... (No, I'm not being facetious here.)
