Wilhelm is NOT a girl!!!

:P

but yes should've given him some loving last night...

oh wells... tonight i'll install the 24-hour timer and run the cable out to the heater so that he charges for like 2-4 hours everyday before i wake up

maybe run the trickle charger too for a few nights... just make sure his battery is well charged...

i'm going to look into high output alternators as well... the stocker only does 65A... i might be pulling more than that with the subs and all...

200W radio
900W amp for subs
+ ~50W+ for random interior and lighting crap...

lets call it 1200W....
@ 12 V that means i need...

100A.

hmmmm.......

that'd be worse case I assume?

surely your car isnt drawing that much powah typically. those amp/stereo numbers are max hits at full volume.

I'll agree that the 65a is probably pushing it with a heavy stereo but I'd think your still within operating limits.

also have been missing the diesel jetta lately......well missing the slammed ride and only filling up every 3 weeks as the bmw continues to suck through $60 in gas a week.

Why does the BMW eat some much gas?

well ya...

i normally keep it at reasonable levels but idk how efficient the old lighting and climate control systems are... i mean the damn controller is a giant differential amplifier built from individual parts in the 80's...

and clearly if me and brad playing around with wiring for a few hours and running the dome light can kill the battery i don't have enough safety margin...

plus what if i want to wire up seat heaters??? that'll be an additional draw on the battery and alternator (but it will make my butt oh so happy)...

still not sure if i want to go through all the work for seat heaters though... because eventually wilhelm will be a summer-only car. (once i get a nice cheap 240D manual) then i can also save ALL the money on diesel cause the 240 is crazy efficient (47mpg) but real slow (but i can live with slow)

Sheer brilliance:
http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...with-coilovers

cliffs notes: guy is slammed on coils, wants to be able to carry passengers and such without rubbing, adds helper air bags, does hella stealth OEM routing (thats the part I really think is BA)

zactly.
I drive 350-400 miles per week depending how many days I go to school

I typically avg 22-26 mpg with mixed city/highway driving. I can avg closer to 25-28 consistently but that requires me to leave 5 minutes earlier everywhere I go.

also slow diesel? sounds like the mk2 lol I could floor that bitch everywhere I went and still get 40mpg although it'd take hours to get anywhere
