Should a Focus Wagon be sold in US?

Not the same. I have driven the Focus wagon. It is a fine car and nothing like the Escape. The Escape sits up high. The wagon sits low like all other cars but with additional cargo space.

Don't call it a "Global car" if you're STILL going to limit which models are available in certain countries. That's just stupid.

I don't know why a lot of people think that a Wagon is for "niche people". Just look at VW US and do a comparison "sedans"/"hatchback" vs "wagons" (Diesel, of course) and the results may surprise more than one. I think wagons have their place in the car market. I will not buy one, because in a family of two, a wagon is too much... but it'll fit very well for a family of 4.
And yes, I'd love to have the Diesel version of Focus here, in Canada. It would be more than great ! But with the quality of the diesel fuel in North America, I think Ford will wait a bit longer before letting him loose with a diesel version in this side of the Atlantic Ocean.

Regarding the possibility of the new wagon coming over, there were 'substantiated rumors' a while back, then some spottings of the actual wagons in Michigan--presumed 'test cars.' Anybody heard anything recently?

I saw that post a while back too. It was a euro version. I have been searching the web for anything new, but have found nothing.

I want you all (especially Ford USA) to see what we're missing. Fortunately I have the opportunity to travel throughout Europe while employed with the US Army. Every once in a blue moon, I will spend money to rent a car when I already have one. This week I rented the Ford Focus wagon, 1.6L turbo 6sp manual. It was a terrific ride. It has sooooo many extra features over the US Focus. Features like heated windshield, manual headlight leveling, and auto dimming just to name a few. Here are a couple of pics.
