EchoMaster DRL Kit up for preorder

After giving it some more thought, my guess is that the parking light wire is cut to disengage the OEM parking light, and the signal on the driver's side is used to trigger low/high intensity on the new LED drl lights. If this step is skipped, I believe the DRLs will remain in either the low/high intensity(if the no signal case is high intensity, they may now not be "street legal", and if the no signal case is low intensity, they will not be as bright when the headlights are not on), but you would gain the ability to reverse the install if needed.

I don't believe it actually draws any power from this wire on the driver's side, but it is rather used as a sensor of what the OEM setting is. I wonder if it is possible to tap into that signal without actually cutting the wire.

The difference is you get OEM like replacement pieces for the LED to sit in, you can sell the originals if cost is an issue and recoup some of that cost if you don't want to keep the originals. You also get the control unit that dims when the headlights are on. There is a DIY on how to do it with Phillips LEDs and it is A LOT more steps and risk involved.

I think $250 would be the sweet spot price considering parts, risk, labor and convenience. Since these are a few early adopters that are willing to buy them for slightly more, they can charge more. I would not be surprised if price drops long term. I believe they are $320 if you call echomaster directly(including shipping)

In the end, no matter what their price is, someone is going to think they could be cheaper. It all depends how much risk you want to take cutting out plastic pieces and handling the wiring, and also how much you value your time of doing this.

The real difference is ease of install and that the echomaster ones come with bezels that they made. You don't have to drill into stuff, line things, up, etc. The kit is also pretty much plug and play with the existing wiring. Easier and more professional looking is why it costs more.

I agree. I hate the Audi LED design. The Mercedes and even Taurus look is far better looking.

I totally disagree. Mercedes does this "put some LEDs on the bumper somewhere" thing at the factory.
