Ignition Timing to optimize power

First let me say I did search this first without finding the answer.
This must be a popular question I thought?

How much ignition advance do Focus SVT's like? I'm talking about stock long block cars without a power adder. Stock my car was advancing to around 22-25 degrees at WOT. I know the heads on these cars a pretty efficient but that seems low.

After receiving my tune the car advanced to 28 degrees at WOT but takes a while to get there. Meaning as the revs go up so does the timing. It doesn't hit 28' full advance till about 6000 rpm. I would think the timing should come on quicker and max out higher but I have no dyno experience with these motors.

Anyone know that could help a brotha out?

What you need to do is send datalogs to your tuner and have him check the knock sensor this will let him know with your fuel , your style of driving if you are pulling any timing and if he can add more

If your trying to get the most you can from your tune only datalogging will do that

Tom, you're either the only knowledgeable Focus person on this board or the only one that posts. I'm guessing the later.
I frequent this board and Focaljet and I'd say you are the most knowledgeable and most helpful on either board. There must be other guys messing with these cars that really know what they are doing but they don't post or at least not that I've seen.
I'm not trying to upset anyone or point fingers. I'm just surprised of the lack of support from other tuners.

In my brief ownership of my SVTF I've learned one important thing. If you have a question about optimizing your Focus- ask Tom.

If you are reading this and your a sharp Focus tuner than please help your case by answering my original post.

FYI- I can see my timing, air intake temp, engine load, rpm, speed, coolant temp, mpg, maf volts, etc with my scanner thats hooked up to my smart phone. I cant log it but I can watch it in real time.
29 degrees full advance has had no detonation so far on 93 octane. Most likely ,although I dont have any dyno time, there's no point in going any higher. The head on these motors are pretty efficient. I do think the timing curve should come on quicker than mine.
I do wish someone with actual dyno time on a stock or lightly modded SVT that ran 93 octane on a dyno would chime in on max timing.

I have thousands of Hrs of dyno time with this engine and there is no one that can give you a max timing on that or any other engine , the engine sets its timing as no 2 engines are the same and your tune would of come with a starting point (good over all Avg) on the timing

This is why datalogging is needed , In my opinion a must , why do people not want to send there tuners datalog

WARNING! Just because you cannot hear detonation/spark knock does not mean it isnt there , detonation/spark knock isnt audable unless it is serious
