The black square is strictly for LOCKING the vehicle. The UNLOCK sensor is on the inside of the door handle. The unlock sensor is not visible, it's just the inside of the handle. So, when you grab the handle as is natural and your fingers contact the inside, the unlock is activated.

I thought I had to hold the handle and cover the black square. OK, it's much more reliable now.

Love my Titanium! Im almost at 400 miles so still breaking it in.. My neighbors liked mine so much he went and got a black SE. I really love his black wheels...I thought this was really cool my neighbor having one too....

I do like my '12 Focus SE Hatchback (reg. Auto) green glass color,
cruise control, sun roof, heated seats & mirrors and mirror signals.

2600 miles so far...

I came from a Honda family, and was down to either a '12 Honda civic or a '12 KIA Forte'.... I liked them both..

I stopped into the Ford dealer as a joke
*my (then)future wife had a 2002 Focus which IMO was the huge POS) *
as a gas , I drove it(2012), and bought it the same day !

I love how it drives... IMO better than the KIA or Honda

now with all the bad press... I'm not sure I mad e the right decission with a FORD....

Just thought I'd chime in. I received my 2012 Focus from the factory and picked it up on Halloween. I've got a few hundred miles on it so far and love it. It's insane how many features are on this vehicle. I had been desiring a VW Golf months ago, but I'm definitely glad I bought the Ford in the end.

I love my Focus! Love love love it. And so very happy to see a thread that is devoted to all the things people like!

My Focus has just over 4300 miles and I could not be happier. It is at the dealer today because it did overheat last week, but they diagnosed the problem within an hour and it should be fixed tomorrow - and Ford paid for a rental for me. Funny thing is the rental just reminds me of how much I love my Focus!!!

Adam....don't let the bad press concern you because what we've seen on this Forum is that apparently nobody accounts for the positive press, and there's a lot of it out here. I have over 5300 miles on my Ti and it's run relatively perfect, love it, and plenty of people out here feel the same.

So....just enjoy it and have fun!

^ Very true! Bad press always gets more attention than good press. Coincidently, I was perusing cars.com the other day and the Focus is far and away their highest rated C-class car. Total of 8.6/10!

I'm about 9000 miles into my Focus SE, and still have fun driving it. I don't have the two things responsible for nearly all complaints--the auto transmission and MFT--so this is a car I expect to enjoy for another 7-8 years.
