I'm sorry, but it does just look like a primer gas door... there's no reason to make the gas door not match the body of the car. Twenty bucks says you'll be looking at those pictures in five years saying "LOL, what the hell was I thinking?"

There's an important lesson here, and it goes for painting the interior, as well. Just because a part can be easily removed doesn't mean you should paint it.

Already tried, and failed miserably. Very difficult to separate the lens. Don't know if they changed the glue or what...but any hotter and I would've melted the housing.

This may be, but then again I like it right now, I can't get a CF door, and I can remove it whenever if I feel like it. Nothing ventured nothing gained

Probably gonna cover up the Merkur's fadding and clear coat on the grill, hood and roof with this stuff. Should make it look a bit better until I can get the whole car painted.

A CF fuel door isn't any better just cause it's CF... there's no weight savings and it still doesn't match the body of the car. Unless you do a full carbon body conversion; now that would be pretty sick.

Hating over some plastidip. The whole idea about modding cars is to express your personality in however manner you see fit. If a cheap, effective mod gives you the gain you want for your car, then why not. I respect the venturing out, and has been stated, plastidip isn't permanent. Try something out, if it doesn't work, you can peel it off easier than vinyl. I have a panel wrap ob my car that didn't even cost 30 bucks, but the experience from trying my hand at it and the accomplishment (it's not perfect, but I saved 700 dollars trying my own hand at it.
