I removed the air box cover as well and find for my taste its a bit too loud. I'm just trying to decide whether to drill some holes in the cover until I find a volume that I'm happy with. Not really going for performance gains...just want to hear a little more induction noise. Wondering if the individual holes will do this as I'm afraid now that cutting a large hole in the cover as pictured earlier will be too much. I'm also thinking perhaps a series of smaller holes might keep the filter a little cleaner?!? Having never played with an intake before I really don't know.

Im wondering if there isnt any pressure issues with having a large hole or many holes all over?

I must be one of the few that enjoy the intake noise at WOT. Also noticed at cruising speeds even on the freeway it sounds almost stock.

This is a good observation. And it is true with any intake because when you are cruising, there is only a small amount of air moving through the intake and TB. When you mash the go pedal, at first there is a lack of air for a second causing that throaty sound then as the air speed through the intake increases the sound moves from the throaty sound to a sound of rapid air movement. It's all resonance and harmonics which is why when you remove the "resonator" from the airbox you get that throaty sound.

Wow is all I can say. I did this mod and it changed the sound of the car a lot. I love it

I do have a question though, I removed the bottom piece as well, and it seems that the air filter (I put a k&n filter in) is very loose. It moves up and down very freely. Has anyone else noticed this and or did something different. I am thinking of making some sort of bracket to hold it more than it is.

Ok so the one thing I noticed was that the filter was moving a lot. Sony made a bracket that gives it some support. It can still move around but no where near as much as before. I will paint it but I am just testing it now and making a few small changes.

I know, kind of an old thread, but REDFOCZ, can you tell me what size tool (socket, you said?) you need to remove the lid? I think I might do this until I grab a Steeda CAI.
