For all those who seem to thing we are all just complaining, I for one like my car except for the problems with the transmission. I agree with the person who said they could drive a manual transmission much better than the Focus's computer. I know I could. It is aweful. I am trying to be patient, but when you pay a small fortune for a car, I expect it to work right. I have had many {actually around 15 Fords} and this is the first time, I have had issues like this where no one seems to be able to address the issues.

Ok so what does all this jibberish mean. And I am not a mechanic, but an owner so no need to have those who would be smart mouths answer my question. I think folks on here are just trying to get answers.

While having the Expedition serviced I figured I would stop in and see what they would give me for the Focus as trade in. I filled out the form and off he went and came back and told me for a 2012 Focus SE with Sport Package and the Automatic they would give me $14,500.00. So for one month of use and with 1100 miles I would pay over $7000.00. So much for the Focus holding any type of value.

Montana you can't buy a car and than sell it with in a few months and plan on making any money on it. did you put 20% down, if you did than you would be out about $2000 out of your pocket. sell your car out right someone will buy it for sure this focus is wanted by many people. keep your head up.

Hmmm I re-read my statement and don't see where I implied that I expected to make money on it. After owning for 1 month not several and with 1100 miles on it I somewhat expected a higher trade in price. Even the salesman was somewhat embarrassed to show me what it was worth.

Yes but what you got is the "black book" trade in value if you hide the problems and hope not getting sued.But if you declare the problems or the dealership punch in the VIN number and see the complete history and problems ,you will get even less.

I just checked AutoTrader.com for 2012 Focus SE which are used, and most of what I saw had anywhere from 1,000-3,000 miles and averaged around $20K. If the dealer is only offering you $14.5K, then they're ripping you off.

There are a few things you should know.First,the numbers in the Autotrader.com are the price the sellers are trying to get and are often a few thousand dollars over the actual value from the "Red Book".It's not because they ask that much that they will actually get that much.They may get a little over the actual value but not by much unless the guy buying is totally clueless.Second,The dealership will offer you the trade-in value from the "Black book" that will be lower because when you trade in a car ,you only pay taxes on the difference between the 2 cars instead of the entire new car.So you seem to get less ,but in reality you get about the same.

You have said this twice now. It doesn't make sense. Just because you put 20% down doesn't mean you are out any less money. You would be out the 20% PLUS $2000 out of pocket (per your example).

It would be a shame for anyone to lose money because Ford can't or won't fix the issues some people are experiencing with their Focus.
