I just signed up to have a look around and get some info re Ford's and rally.I'm from Newfoundland and do Solo2 and Targa Newfoundland.Here we are last year in a classic Ford Escort with Honda S2000 power.....

Ahhhh....OK so....well....

We took 3rd in Open Class,but mostly because our competitors had more trouble than us.

We caught fire at about 170KM/h when an oil line broke......we spun a bearing in the engine because of losing too much oil....and when we landed in the above picture.....we knocked out the fuel pump!

Maybe you should have read the sign before crossing. It looks like you were going faster than the posted speed limit. lol

Sound like quite a rally. The fire sounds like the most exciting part.

well, what are you looking to know? the focus makes a great rally car, find an SVT and add some boost. they are great on a budget. (racing budget, not an ordinary car budget) you can get the rally brake kit, hotbits, and they are pretty durable and parts are cheap. the handling is quite neutral. i mean, there is a reason WRC used the focus!!! I'm planning to do the Targa in a few years as i like tarmac as well as gravel.

Are there any lightweight panels(carbon fiber or fiberglass) available?

Is the wheel base the same for the two and four door models?(four door hatchbacks are fairly common here)

Targa is a blast.......I've managed to do three runs at it now......

for lightweight, i actually own a Carbon fiber company. and am making interior panels and working on the stock SVT body kit. hoods/hatches are already available. aftermarket support is phenominal!

the wheel base is a bit different between the sedan and hatch, however, the hatches all have the same wheel base.

i will be running the Targa when i finish my rally car for rally america which i know passes all tech for running. but if you are looking for a sick rally car, the focus is the way to go! (2wd of course)

Hey guys,

Just picked up a used rally car.....


Most of it is freshly re-built and stage ready,but owner has moved on to all wheel drive.So I probably will not be on here very often.If any of you make it up here look me up on the Targa forum.
