Once you are on that screen, right click on a picture and select "save as".

Select / create the folder you want the MFT screens in.

I am using IE9 ... but the steps shold be similar.
Try checking your default programs for photo viewing if they are still saving in the format you mentioned. It's possible that FFox document somehow got set as default for certain images.

I think his issue might be that he's doing "Save As" instead of the "Save Image As". Save As would try to save the page as a webpage (firefox doc).
