Just so you know, chances are if you buy any aftermarket axle, it's rebuilt. I just got one from Auto Parts International, and it's "re-manufactured".

That's not necessarily a bad thing, though. I wouldn't be too concerned. They usually come with a warranty, right?

I need to change one of my axles soon, as one of the CV joints has developed a "click" and this is the first bit of research I've done on the matter.

Go figure. Another semi-unavailable, overpriced part for our cars.

I'd trust a reman axle *from a reputable rebuilder*

The annoying part is that I wouldn't care how many times the axle shaft was re-used, but I would rather have NEW, not re-ground, CV's. Most rebuilders find it easier to use new CV's, but it is hard to find this stuff out when working with part-store-parts

This is great. Contrary to the other information I've found on this forum, Autozone does have two different part #'s for Focus right side axles.

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...ntifier=297148
Part Number: 9370
Weight: 18.1 lbs
Warranty: Limited Lifetime
Location: Right
Input Shaft Spline Count: 26
Output Shaft Spline Count: 25
Compressed Length (In): 37.250
Nut Head Size: 32mm hex head

Price:$53.99
Core: $10.00
Total:$63.99

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...entifier=54395
Part Number: 8356
Weight: 19.4 lbs
Warranty: Limited Lifetime
Location: Right
Inboard Spline Count: 34
Outboard Spline Count: 25
Inboard Joint Type: Male
Compressed Length (In): 37 3/8"
Nut Thread Size: M22x1.5
Nut Length: OAH 21.15
Nut Head Size: 32mm Hex Head

Price:$52.99
Core: $25.00
Total:$77.99

At $53, I think I will have to give the AZ #8356 a try... even if the CV's are remanufactured, I would expect them to last as long as a used one.

Those Duralast from Auto Zone don't say that they fit the SVT, so be careful.
I've found that when they say something fits, it usually dosen't, passenger side motor mount for instance does not fit.

Advance Auto Parts specifically says that these 2 axles fit our SVT's:
Driver side...Remanufactured $60

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...1807466749____

Passenger side... New... $100 these are in and out of stock, so you have to keep checking the web site for availability.

2. I got the driver side axle from O'Reilly Auto but it looks like they've unfortunately stopped selling it. I got the passenger side from Advance Auto online: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...1370368013____

Autozone has the driver side: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par.../N-jhcovZ6o2dc
O'Reilly still sells them, just replace both axels last month from them. $68 plus $24 core charge for passenger side.

Cardone has a reman line and a new line. I buy their new line every time as I get them for about $10 dollars over the cost of a rebuild, and they beef up 4x4 axles BIG TIME.

RockAuto has a rebuild option under 6 speed. And also has all the motorcraft parts.

I really like my AUP axles. Everything about them is quality and the shafts are noticably thicker than the stock ones, which are already thick. The boots are super nice too.
