Sound System Install

Tony407 makes a lot valid points but seems to be moding the sony system. tvp90 is asking about moding the six speaker non sony system to get similar results to the sony system.

So the simple answer is most likely going to be that changing the speakers on the non-sony system one for one is not going to make a dramatic difference. Now adding an aftermarket EQ and adding sub w/amp would make a much bigger difference.

Got an email from Crutchfield saying my AudioControl LCQ-1 has shipped out! Been waiting for over 2 months and coincidentally I got the email on my birthday!! Can't wait to get my greedy little hands on it...

How did the LCQ-1 install go? I have a friend that is getting rid of his Focals. Wondering if it's worth updating my Focus S, and it's lowbie HU.

Install went really, really well and sounds friggin AWESOME!!!

First of all, great write-up so far!

When you installed it, did you use a wiring harness adapter or did you have to tap into the speaker wires? I'm going to have to tap into the speakers for my amp's LOC and I was wondering what colors were for which speakers.

Looking forward to the LCQ-1 pics!

Yes, I tapped into the wires at the Sony amp. If I remember correctly, the colors are the same there as they are at the doors, which are pictured earlier in this thread.

I have a bunch of pics that I'm editing and then uploading to Photobucket. I should have them on here soon.

Hey guys, I think I blew out my driver side tweeter today since I hear a rattle when the bass hits sometimes....I think this is the tweeter anyways? How do I fix that? Thanks!

I had a rattling noise from my rear door tweeter with heavy bass songs. Because I'm the curious type, I removed the door panel and the tweeter was a little loose. There aren't any screws, it was just fitted in to a cut out. I gave it a slight turn while pushing inward and I haven't had a problem since.
