2001 zts

149,000.00 miles and usual maintenance performed. Same clutch, engine never been cracked open, half shafts still original. Three sets of brakes to the front, two to the rear. Frt. struts changed at 84K , three sets of new springs to the front. One driver door handle replaced, plugs and wires changed every two yrs. On a diet of Mobile One since new, compressions high on the step. She wears out rear tires like McDonald Big Macks. But overall a great race chaser. I'd buy another one in a minute. I'm going for 200,000.00 and then trade for something better.

FOCUS problems

2003 FOCUS Z-TEC WAGON ..SALSA RED
Have about 90,000k now and the car almost looks like new.
If you wish, PM me for pics.
As for problems, the trans. Valve Body had to be replaced at 45,000k
under warranty. The rear tires wear "CUP" excessively even after 4 wheel alignment has been performed.. NOW ON MY 5TH SET !
Other than that it has been trouble free with all belts and hoses being original from new. Will sell or trade soon................

Safety not noise....

SPEED BUMP.......I'm on my 6th set of tires because of rear cupping. Factory tire rep sez that all the tire manufacturer is responsible for is the tires safety, not the excessive noise. Now that is a bunch of BS because after 5000 miles one cannot hear the radio! This is one deal that Ford swept under the rug! I've had different manufactured tires on the 01 Focus and they all ROAR! Just grin and bear it they day! Next time I'll buy a Toyota and grin at the FF at stop lights.

You're absolutely Right !!!
Ford knew about the problem with the Focus since 2000 and ignored it,
that was their idea of a cheap fix.
I owned a 1991 Escort B-4 buying the Focus and sold it with 147,000 miles
it never had 4 wheel alignment and never ever cupped the rear tires.

New 2012. Took delivery on June 1st. Since day one the MyFord Touch has not worked. For the first 21 days I owned the car, the dealer had it in their shop for 11 of those days. Still doesn't work. The screen will go blank. The radio still works, but none of the touch screen functions work. It happens daily and from what I talked to the service manager, there's no fix in sight. Truly a sucky situation. Also the new 6 speed has a shudder when you go from a start, bey he has shown me in the maintenance info that 'this is normal and should clear up after a while'. 4100 miles and it still does it as bad as when I first got it.

Bought it used on Feb 28th. Was at dealership once a week in March. First it was the reverse light switch which was bad when I drove it off the lot. They broke the tail light fixing it, so I was back for a tail light. The light they fixed had a burnt out bulb put back in. Then the drivers side airbag went bad. They fixed that. Then the wiring in the hatch went bad causing the hatch to unlatch as soon as the ignition turned on which in turned burned out the motor. So far everything but the wiring was fixed under the dealer warranty and the hatch was rewired by my brother. The power hatch release is still dead. Since then however I haven't had a problem.

Bought my 2001 focus wagon in 2008 for around $3500. Had 135,000 miles on it at the time. Really nice looking car and well taken care of by the previous owner.

Now has 252,000 miles on it. As for problems... Wheel bearings, Struts, shocks, driver's side front axle, tie rod ends, ball joints, one brake caliper, door lock and handle linkages needed repaired. But nothing I would consider abnormal for the amount of miles on the car. Engine and transmittion still strong.

But there are a few minor problems I have not fixed/figured out how to fix:

Gearshift will not release from Park position after depressing brake pedal (replaced switch on break pedal but did not help).

Rear brake lights remain on after car has been driving for about 20-30 minutes (replaced break light switch but did not help).

Front hood release lever (plastic part) broke off under steering wheel.

Heater fan only blows on high setting.

And last but not least... the rear wheels are further out at the bottom than the top. Wears out tires on the inside tread fast. My mechanic claims that there are no adjustments for the rear wheels.

All in all, I would consider myself very satisfied with the car and I would buy another one in the future.

pretty unacceptable situation there for a brand new car imo. seems they should replace the entire ford touch system or screen at least until it works.
Thats like buying a new 3d tv and the 3d visuals doesnt work.
