The S model pretty much only exists for fleets, unless you special order one, no dealers are getting them in. It is the bottom car, anything they could of saved money on they did, this includes small steel wheels, steel control arms, drum brakes etc. So far most other people have found that the suspension are possibly the same across the board. Ford employees (not dealers) have come out and said the same thing. Nothing seems concrete, but I cant see the se sport package suspension being the same as an S. |

When I was shopping around for mine, dealers had tons of S on the lots in the Bay Area and relatively few of each other configuration. I agree the S is more of a fleet vehicle but there are still tons of them out there for regular buyers as well.

I think there were two S trims that showed up on Long Island, NY. There may have been more, but from what I have seen, the SE was the one that had the most dealer orders, and the SEL and Titanium have been selling faster than the SE.

We have a lot of S trims here, and with aluminum control arms. Confirmed through personal visual inspection.

so.... I could have got an SEL for less, this we know. oh well, I love the look of the spoiler on the sedans, and my base sport wheels.. I guess for handling I'll just stick to my stang

I have a SE w/ the 201A + sports package that was built in 6/2011.
I can confirm it has the following springs after I checked the "still vistable" barcode tags on the springs themselves. • BV61-5310-NG* Left Front Coil • BV61-5310-NGF E29EJ Right Front Coil (C346FRT) • BV61-5560-NF* Left Rear Coil Spring • BV61-5560-NFD E29EJ Right Rear Coil Spring (C346RR) ![]() ![]() I haven't seen any built in 7/2011 yet to see if they have since changed or not. I have an SE with sports package on order, sheduled build date is 8/15 and it lists touring suspension and the springs are listed as:
Left Front Bv61-5310-ng Right Front Bv61-5310-ng Left Rear Bv61-5560-ng Right Rear Bv61-5560-ng This may prove the de-contenting of the SE-Sport Package suspension debate. I'm rather peeved to be honest. it means that the older focus i test drove and liked the handling on was misleading for me placing my future order, which does not include the better shocks and springs. Talk about the old bait and switch. I should call someone at Ford and demand that my order be built with the better suspension. HA, good luck to me on that right! Also this is shady because I just realized that all of the car-mags that fell in love with the SE, manual, with Sport Package and the 17" reviews - they were probably all reviewing models that had the sport suspension. Man, now I'm really Mad. Maybe not mad enough to cancel my order, but now I'll feel like I'm driving a LIE. |
