Here we go again. Wrench light, limp mode, rough idle. This time it happened 4 times in 3 days. Called our local dealer and the service rep again said if it doesn't happen for them and there isn't a code, there won't be much they can do. Now my wife got a little miffed and said where she works she has to drive thru the less pretty neighborhoods of our fair city and if it happens there she may not make it out unharmed. His reply was "well, maybe i should give Ford a call about it." I thinking, 'well duh' shouldn't you have done that the second time we brought this in for the same problem.
Today's limp mode was different though. After the wrench light went on and she restarted the car, lo and behold the CEL comes on. Drove around the corner to Autozone and had them check the code. P2112 throttle actuator control system - stuck closed. Wouldn't that mean the car wouldn't be able to be driven? WTF. Guess we'll see what they say when i drop it off for service on Monday. FordCustomerService, if you still want to help, i may be ready to give you a shot. |

Hi johnkos,
My name is Natasha with Ford Customer Service and I've been handling this forum. I'm sorry for the hassle you have experienced in getting your Focus correctly diagnosed. I understand your wife's fear about getting stranded, and am glad you are willing to give me a shot at assisting. Please PM me with your VIN, contact info, mileage and servicing dealer so I can try to help. I will keep a look out for your reply. ~Natasha

I agree the Ford customer service is a great thing to have around here, but I'm also getting tired of seeing them tell everyone to just go to a Ford dealer all the time, as someone said " I think he knows he can go to a Ford dealer".
If where just going to tell everyone to go to a Ford dealer, mine as well as close the tech section and just put a big banner up saying " go to a Ford dealer". Don't get me wrong either though, as I said, I think having the Ford customer rep around for dealer complaints is totally awesome, but this go to a Ford dealer stuff needs to stop. This is the third thread I've seen a ford customer rep just tell em to go to a dealer.

Got the call around 2pm Saturday that my car was fixed. Since it finally threw a code they figured out it was a faulty throttle body. They had one in stock and replaced it. Drives a whole lot better and now the cruise control finally holds a constant speed, it no longer surges up and down. Not sure if the FordCustomerService call had anything do do with it but I'm glad for the help anyway. Now time will tell if this was the culprit causing the car to go into limp mode.

Here's hoping it finally got figured out.
As for the complaints about "FordCustomerService" telling folks to go to the Dealer, Y'all have to understand that this SN is being utilized by FoMoCo(Corporate), not some franchise dealer somewhere. They wouldn't send You to Your local mom n pop mechanic when that would potentially affect the bottom line, now would They? That said, the Franchisees are beholden to the Corp. Office, and when Corporate steps in(or "escalates" a service call), there's a better chance of the dealer actually addressing the issue than just any old Ford owner off the street. It's kinda like bringing a lawyer to court, as opposed to representing Yourself, You're gonna have more effect having someone there who speaks the lingo. In short, give 'em a break, They're just doing Their job. It is entirely up to You, the Individual to decide if You want to take Their advice. |
