The 2012 Window Tint Thread

It was overcast the day the pics were taken. I find the 35% to be classy and dark enough all of the time. I debated between the Solar Gard Quantum and the Llumar Pinnacle, but because the ceramic tint is suppose to be the best I went with the Pinnacle tint.

I've done research on tint laws in IL... from my understanding it's okay to tint 35% on front and rear doors. Can anyone confirm this?

Just to be clear... 35% means 35% of light comes thru and 20% would mean 20% of light comes thru and would therefore be darker?

Correct. I imagine other issues such as the tint color and metallic content can alter the appearance slightly, but in terms of light transmission, yes.

In my next car my thought is to do 75% on the fronts, and 50% on the rear sides and back. Supposedly with a doctor's note from an Optometrist you can legally have tint on the front windows in MI.

Just did more thorough research... IL passed a law in 2009 to allow front tint if back tint is 35%. So I guess the website is outdated.

I have heard this but my eye doctor won't do anything for me, I'm going to investigate it more and see what I can come up with.
