Hi Guys/Gals,

Lat week we became 1st-time Focus owners, having traded a 2005 Explorer (14mpg's) for a 2012 SE 5-door. Here are a couple of links to pictures:

The only options were the 6-speed auto transmission and the Rapid Spec 203A package. We preferred the SEL's, but the only ones our dealer could find also included a sunroof (not an option I wanted). We've been quite happy with the car so far. We got a calculated 26.9 MPG's around town on the first tank (I learned not to trust the dash readout). The first modification will be to tint the rear windows. I'd also like to ditch the stock steel wheels at some point. A new set of winter tires/rims will also be found for driving in the snow.

I look forward to learning more about the car through your collective experience here.

I didn't realise it, but every time I looked up how to do something to my ZX4, google would bring me to a how-to from this site. Eventually, I started realising it, so I decided to stop wasting time, and just joined the site!
I'm 21, female, named Michelle (friends call me Fox). I have a 2006 Ford Focus ZX4 that I know very little about. My dads a mechanic, but lives out of state, so I decided it was time to start learning how to do stuff to my own car so these dern "mechanics" here in AK would stop trying to pull whool over my eyes. ("No, Honestly Ma'am, if you don't change your brake fluid every other month, you're entire engine could sieze!") >.>

We have places like that here in oklahoma. One day after telling them no every time, I told the guy "my uncle works on cars and he said that changing allthat fluid you try to sell is totally pointless" They never asked me about that stuff again.

While trying to buy my new headlight bulbs (already knowing the kind I needed), I had a guy tell me that it wasn't smart for me to try and do this myself. I asked why, quite curious. "well, it's fairly complicated. You're probably gonna need to use some tools." To which I replied "I figured as much. But i'm willing to bet my garage has more tools than your entire store.." (when my dad moved, he left me all his "extras"). He laughed and said "Do you know what a monkey wrench is, young lady?" I smiled, saying "Yes I do. I also know that I do not need a monkey wrench to change a light bulb." Then he went on to rattle about how easy it is to blow fuses, and how the best way to handle them in by the glass (Erm.. WRONG!), and that if I needed any help at all to feel free and call him. Then he gave me his personal cell phone number.
Why is it women are supposed to be genetically bad at vehicles? I may be just starting off, but come on... Really?

there are plenty of men on this site that would love to help a 21 year old girl nick-named 'fox' to fix her car...ahaha . but welcome. no other place online has more useful fofo info than right here!

Sounds fun! Nothin happenin to her just yet, more doing a look- over since I recently bought her used. I did, however, install an Amp and Bass system. 2 12's in one box. Don't really have a working trunk anymore, but it was a gift I wasn't about to refuse!
