Well, the course designers that designated to create the course always think Safety. Safety is always first at the SCCA regionals and any other SCCA related events. They make sure that any major turns have no way of running into anything that could cause injury to you or the course workers.

For your first auto-x tires aren't really important. You're not going to be breaking any records anyway. Actually, learning on all-seasons is good practice, as you'll get a better feel for how the car handles at its traction limit, and how to react when you surpass it. If you were using a sticky summer tire, you would just be going that much faster when you lose control. haha.
