Sorry it took a while to reply, I'm out of town. Spray adhesive for the front, on back of the fabric. Then tube glue for under the pins

Has anyone used any foam (very thin) behind the fabric to add a little depth? I know the OEM panel had a very thin foam, but it was so dry rotted it crumbled off. I'm going with leather or soft side vinyl, not sure which, and think a bit of cushion may look good.

Yes, I did.

Looks good. Want to do red perforated leather on mine. Just need to find some place that sells it. Most online places i checked have this huge minimum qty you have to buy. My have to check local fabric places.

Also my 2000 zx3 has this plastic trim piece just above the insert on the front door panels. Haven't seen it in any of your guys post. Wondering if u had it and got rid of it or didn't have it. Just wondering how to remove it b4 i start pulling since it overlaps the panel you redid.

I believe you have to dremel some clips on the door panel off to remove the inserts. I've never seen it but I've read about it on here while I was looking up how to do this.
You might wanna talk to CasyE from the second page of this thread, Custom Interior he has pleated leather for inserts and it looks super sick. That was the inspiration for me doing my inserts like that.

Got to poking around to see if the plastic trim overlay on the inserts just pops off or what. Looks like 1/2 dozen or so plastic tabs that attach to the back of the plastic trim piece then go through the cloth covered door insert. They apparently won't pop out but instead break at the base. Was able to pull center out enough to see them. Guess when i recover the inserts i will have to glue this piece back or find some other way to attach it. Want to do gloss black on the plastic, red leather on the insert since my door is black already.

I have the same problem Dirt. FYI, those plastic tabs make it a lot harder to get the inserts off, since they go through the insert. Drill them out. My plastic strips were gone, but I did find some replacements. Once they are off, they won't go back on with mechanical means, since you have to break them off. I was trying to save any pieces of the tabs if possible, but then you have to drill a hole through your new inserts, so eff that.

These are standard in Europe, and I see a lot of folks over there just gluing them back on once they re-do their inserts. This gives you a little flexibility, you can test fit them to see if they look good. I plan to drill out the old peg mounts to remove the insert, recover the inserts, then glue my strips on later.

Great.... now i gotta drill'em out. More work for me haha. Oh well. Now if i can just get the perforated leather in red then i can start. Emailed a place called Coast2Coast that has all kinds and can do custom colors from samples. Says on site you can buy small amounts like a sq yard i think. Maybe in a couple days they'll email me back with pricing and info.
